Superstar fullback Latrell Mitchell<\/a> is reportedly set to shun the chance to become the NRL's latest million dollar man, with the Rabbitohs<\/a> agreeing to a condition that's likely to keep him at Redfern on a new deal.<\/p>\n

The Broncos recently joined the list of suitors hoping to prise Mitchell away from South Sydney but according to The Daily Telegraph, the 23-year-old is now all but certain to re-sign for a further two years.<\/p>\n

In fact it was a concession from the club over the length of the deal that will ensure Mitchell signs the contract, according to the report, with the player keen for a short-term deal, as the Rabbitohs looked to lock him down for four more years.<\/p>\n

It's understood Mitchell could have attracted a deal worth in the ball park of $1.2 million to put him in the NRL's very top bracket of earners had he chosen to take his services elsewhere but he is likely to sign a considerably more modest deal, worth roughly $875,000-a-year, to stay at Redfern until the end of the 2023 season.<\/p>\n

The news comes as Wayne Bennett told the Courier-Mail he was confident Mitchell, one of the star attractions of next Saturday's All Stars game, would stay put.<\/p>\n

"There's always little issues to sort out with contracts but I'm confident both parties will get it right and Latrell will stay at South Sydney," Bennett said.<\/p>\n

"Latrell will always attract interest because he is so talented.<\/p>\n

" … Latrell is happy at Souths and we are really happy with him, so we're hoping he will stay. We're negotiating now with his manager but I don't expect any problems."<\/p>\n
