Australian opener David Warner<\/a> is considering continuing his white ball career beyond the World Cup<\/a> after a prolific tournament with the bat so far.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old is set to pull up stumps on his Test career in January<\/a>, but admits he hasn't put a firm end date on his one-day and T20 career.<\/p>\n

"Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik did the same thing. I'm still feeling fit. I'll have to give myself a little bit of time off after this summer to actually think about all of that first.<\/p>\n

"My goal is still to set my sights on playing the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean first (in June 2024). And I think from there, I'll probably decide what I'm going to do with white-ball cricket."<\/p>\n

\ufeffWarner has pounded two centuries in India en-route to being Australia's leading runscorer at the World Cup with 499 runs at an average of 55.44 and a strike rate of 105.49<\/p>\n

The tournament has continued what has been a prolific World Cup career for the left-hander. \ufeffHis 1491 World Cup runs ranks behind only Ricky Ponting (1743) in terms of Australians and is fifth all-time on the World cup leading runscorers list.<\/p>\n

While he's been in a rich vein of form in white ball cricket, Warner has been forced to fight off the next generation for his spot at the top of Australia's order in the Test team.<\/p>\n

He credited his upbringing in housing commissions for the dogged fighting spirit that has been a mainstay throughout his career.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffYou basically had to fight for everything," he recalled.<\/p>\n

"Like someone would steal your ball. How do I get it back? I've got to go and get it back off him. It's what you had to do. That's ingrained in me to fight hard for my position, to be the best at what I can do.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI think just having that childhood dream, a boy from a housing commission, getting on the world stage, playing with the best cricketers in the world.<\/p>\n

"I've been fortunate enough to represent my country, represent the people that grew up with me that didn't get that opportunity. They wanted to play cricket, wanted to play football, soccer, tennis, you name it, at the highest level, but weren't able to do that through financial stress, through crime, through bad choices."<\/p>\n
