Western Bulldogs<\/a> coach Luke Beveridge<\/a> has two important allies in his corner, with captain Marcus Bontempelli and legendary mentor Kevin Sheedy<\/a> showing their support.<\/p>\n

Their defence comes after the Bulldogs announced an external review<\/a> into the club's football department as Beveridge looks to return his side into premiership contention.<\/p>\n

The premiership-winning coach is signed with the Bulldogs until 2025 and Sheedy believes he's the right man for the job. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Beveridge has been an incredible coach, he took Footscray (the Bulldogs) from nowhere to somewhere, won a premiership, has been in the finals consistently and it's very hard to find a good coach," Sheedy told 9News Melbourne.<\/p>\n

Following the announcement of the review by club president Kylie Watson-Wheeler\ufeff, Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes<\/a> has questioned the reason behind it.<\/p>\n

"My query on this is, is this not just a review of Luke Beveridge?" Cornes said on SEN.<\/p>\n

"How can you review the football department staff when they're all new? They haven't worked a day (at the club), some of them.<\/p>\n

"This is just another review of the coach, is it not?"<\/p>\n

In her letter to members and fans, Watson-Wheeler, \ufeffwrote that former Essendon<\/a> and Melbourne<\/a> chief executive officer Peter Jackson will assist CEO Ameet Bains with the review process after the club finished ninth last season.<\/p>\n

Bontempelli confirmed he had only found out about the review a "few days ago" and predicted he would be playing a part in the process.<\/p>\n

The 2016 premiership winner went on to put his full support behind the coach, \ufeffwho only recently led his side to the 2021 grand final.<\/p>\n

"I don't think it's a personnel review, Bevo's a great coach, obviously it's a lot about trying to support his future with some of the personnel changing, I only think good can come from it," he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
