A third-grade cricketer<\/a> from the Gold Coast has become an overnight global sensation thanks to a feat never seen before in the professional game.<\/p>\n

Gareth Morgan took six wickets in six balls to win a game for \ufeffMudgeeraba Nerang and Districts Cricket Club against Surfers Paradise in division three at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Surfers Paradise needed only four runs to win, and had six wickets in hand, before opposing captain Morgan brought himself on to save the day.<\/p>\n

What transpired next will stick in his memory for a long time.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffBall one, caught deep mid-wicket boundary," Morgan recalled when speaking to 9News on Monday.<\/p>\n

"Ball two\ufeff, caught at mid-on. Ball three, caught at short mid-wicket. Ball four, caught at point. Ball five, bowled. Ball six, bowled."<\/p>\n

The six-ball feat stunned Surfers Paradise, as well as Morgan and his teammates who could only sit back and watch the fairytale unfold.<\/p>\n

\ufeffBut what happened over the ensuing 24 hours really took the third-grade skipper by surprise.<\/p>\n

International news sites like England's BBC, India's The Hindu, Hong Kong-based BNN and North Carolina's BVM\ufeff picked up the remarkable story, making Morgan an international star.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI can't believe the exposure that Gold Coast third-grade cricket is getting from this," he said.<\/p>\n

On three occasions in professional cricket has a five-wicket over been recorded.<\/p>\n

\ufeffBut nowhere on record is there a six-wicket over, putting Morgan in rarefied air.<\/p>\n

Remarkably, \ufeffit wasn't the first time he had rolled an opposition line-up in the space of one over.<\/p>\n

Playing junior cricket\ufeff several years ago, Morgan took five wickets in five balls, and was robbed of the chance to take a sixth only because the opposition was all out.<\/p>\n
