M\ufeffanly<\/a> recruit Luke Brooks<\/a> believes his switch to the Sea Eagles will bring out the best in him.<\/p>\n

After 205 NRL games with the Tigers<\/a>, Brooks rejected a lucrative offer to remain at Concord Oval, instead penning a four-year deal with Manly in June.<\/p>\n

Speaking at his first training session with his new club, Brooks trusted that the change in scenery would bring joy back into his game.<\/p>\n

"This is all new to me but it's very exciting, and I'm looking forward to the season ahead," he told media.<\/p>\n

"A bit of a change will be good for me. I had been at the Tigers for a long time so it gets me out of my comfort zone coming here.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThe new environment will bring the best out of me so I'm looking forward to playing alongside so many quality players."<\/p>\n

Brooks was excited to play his part alongside Sea Eagles superstars Daly Cherry-Evans, Tom Trbojevic, Huamole Olakau'atu and Toluta'u Koula.<\/p>\n

"There's so much strike [power], and obviously one of the big reasons I came here was to play with those quality players," he said.<\/p>\n

"There's a lot of speed and big bodies that will definitely help my game."<\/p>\n

Joining forces with \ufeffMaroons skipper \ufeffCherry-Evans in the halves, Brooks was keen to have a strong organiser to allow him to execute.<\/p>\n

"Daly just keeps getting better with age and with him running the show I will be able to take my opportunities and run the ball, and that's when I play my best footy."<\/p>\n

So often forced to bear the brunt of criticism for the Tigers' uninspired performances, Brooks admitted it would be nice to step out of the spotlight at Manly.<\/p>\n

"Another one of the reasons why I came was that Seibs [coach Anthony Seibold] spoke to me about taking a step back," he said<\/p>\n

"I copped it a lot over [at the Tigers] but I'm looking forward to laying low here hopefully.<\/p>\n

"Coming here, a lot of the pressure is off me and I can just focus on footy. I know I play my best footy when I'm enjoying it and that's what I think will happen here."<\/p>\n

Leaving the Tigers to play finals, an opportunity he was never afforded in his 11 seasons there, Brooks hoped \ufeffhis former club could avoid a third consecutive wooden spoon next season.<\/p>\n

"I hope they do well and I wish them all the best," he said.<\/p>\n

"I've moved on. I have a lot of mates there [at the Tigers], there are a lot of good people I've known for so long and I honestly hope they do well."<\/p>\n

Brooks \ufeffis expected to slot into the five-eighth position when the Sea Eagles kick off their season in Las Vegas against the Rabbitohs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
