A record-equalling three-match ban was given to Brisbane AFLW<\/a> defender Dee Heslop for her tackle on Demon Rhi Watt, which left the latter severely concussed.<\/p>\n

The suspension means Heslop's season is over, unless Brisbane loses to Adelaide in this week's qualifying final and then qualify for the decider.<\/p>\n

Heslop's defence labelled the incident an "unfortunate event" and even suggested Watt may have contributed to the heavy fall because she was trying to kick the ball away.<\/p>\n

"I had no control \u2013 her momentum is falling still back on me," Heslop said.<\/p>\n

"My legs were right underneath her legs so I had all her body weight on me at that point.<\/p>\n

"I have released her arm (left arm). We've just fallen down. She's used that arm to put down first, followed by her knees. At this stage I'm still underneath her.<\/p>\n

"There was no forcefulness there.<\/p>\n

"Obviously I had no idea (of Watt's injury) until I got told. It's obviously not nice seeing someone get injured, especially coming into these rounds of finals.<\/p>\n

"When we were sort of falling backwards, I have let go of that arm \u2026 we get told not to pin those arms.<\/p>\n

"It was just a misfortunate event her hitting her head that I just happened to be involved in.<\/p>\n

"It was just unfortunate we had no balance at the end and it was just her falling on top of me."<\/p>\n

However,\ufeff tribunal chair Renee Enbom said Heslop's tackle put Watt in a "vulnerable position".<\/p>\n

Watt lay motionless for four seconds according Melbourne's medical report and would later fail her concussion test.<\/p>\n
