To say the Wests Tigers<\/a> have a lot of work to do over the summer is like declaring Glenn Maxwell hits a fair cricket shot.<\/p>\n

As well as collecting their second successive wooden spoon, the Tigers scored the least tries in the NRL<\/a> (66), had least line breaks (96), least kick metres and least try assists (52) in 2023.<\/p>\n

The one positive for Benji Marshall<\/a> is that despite the carnage, somehow the Tigers' discipline was good – they also managed the least sin bins throughout the season with just two \u2026 maybe the referees felt sorry for them!<\/p>\n

Off-field changes have been aplenty, with head coach Tim Sheens and assistant David Furner being made scapegoats for the calamity and Marshall taking over the reins.<\/p>\n

A former champion playmaker in his day, Marshall has identified that scoring points is his biggest challenge in 2024.<\/p>\n

To that end, he has signed three halves in Latu Fainu, Jayden Sullivan and Aidan Sezer in the hope that at least one will provide some much-needed spark with the ball.<\/p>\n

The Tigers have some great kids coming through – but most are in the 17 to 19 age bracket and will take a couple of years to develop.<\/p>\n

Jahream Bula showed last season that if you are good enough, you are old enough and his rookie season was simply sensational.<\/p>\n

Sadly there appears no quick fix for the Tigers but if they can find a consistent halfback in the post-Luke Brooks era, they may climb the ladder a few spots.<\/p>\n
