Recently-retired England<\/a> great\ufeff Stuart Broad<\/a> has urged administrators to stick fat with the short-form coach and captain despite a dismal World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The title holders are in disarray after being assured of an early exit from the tournament in India thanks to six losses in seven games.<\/p>\n

A 33-run defeat to Australia on Sunday confined England to the bottom of the World Cup standings<\/a>\ufeff, meaning they will surrender the trophy and go home with their tail between their legs.<\/p>\n

They may also miss qualification for the Champions Trophy, and have to beat \ufeffthe Netherlands on Wednesday night to remain in the hunt.<\/p>\n

Heat is coming thick and fast \ufefffor troubled coach Matthew Mott – who formerly coached Australia's women's team to great success – and captain Jos Buttler.<\/p>\n

When England lost the Ashes 4-0 during Australia's 2021-22 summer it cost the Test team its coach, forced a change of captain, and sparked change at the top of the ECB tree.\ufeff<\/p>\n

But Broad insists\ufeff the same isn't needed after this latest disaster.<\/p>\n

"It is like the whole team has lost form at the same time," Broad told BBC Sport.<\/p>\n

"They have barely put a foot right at this World Cup, which has been difficult to watch.<\/p>\n

"I'm not of the belief it should be a rip up of the strategy. I would keep Matthew Mott as coach and Jos Buttler as captain.<\/p>\n

"There are some fresh faces that need to come into the group to really stamp home what the strategy is, playing without the fear of failure and really taking the game on. That naturally happens after a World Cup anyway."<\/p>\n

England has games against the Netherlands and Pakistan still to come, but are out of the running for a semi-final spot.<\/p>\n
