After going to the break at 1-all, the wild evening continued for Spurs, when Destiny Udogie was shown red, leaving Postecoglou to battle with nine men on the field.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The two-man advantage finally materialised for Chelsea\ufeff, when Nicholas Jackson broke Tottenham's resistance with three goals from the 75th minute, settling a frantic game that defied logic at times as Spurs survived for a while despite playing a high defensive line.<\/p>\n

Chelsea initially failed to get past Tottenham's brave but possibly na\u00efve high line but did so eventually to devastating effect through Jackson, whose final two goals came in stoppage time.<\/p>\n

Postecoglou defended the use of the high defensive line in the face of two red cards during in his post-match press conference, telling reporters: "It's just who we are mate, It's who we're gonna be as long as I'm here. We go down to 5 men, we'll have a go."<\/p>\n

As the for the officiating and the manner in which it played out, the Aussie said: "There will be a forensic study of every decision out there, I think that is the way the game is going and I don't like it.<\/p>\n

"If you look at all that standing around we did today, maybe people enjoy that sort of thing but I'd rather see us playing football."<\/p>\n

Speaking in the immediate aftermath of the loss, the manager reflected on the defeat to a Chelsea side who moved to tenth on the table with their first win in three league games.<\/p>\n

"It's pretty hard to process, it's almost impossible to analyse the game. It just seemed to get out of control for large parts of it," Postecoglou told Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

"You're left obviously disappointed with the result but really proud of the players' efforts. They gave everything and I guess that's a positive to take out of it.<\/p>\n

"We were very close to getting an equaliser a couple of times. It goes to show their spirit and character which to be fair they've shown since day one. It was just a bridge too far today."<\/p>\n

The loss left Manchester City, the defending champion, two points clear of second-placed Tottenham after 11 rounds.<\/p>\n
