Audio from Daniel Ricciardo<\/a>'s team radio has revealed a stinging tirade at FIA after him and fellow Aussie Oscar Piastri<\/a> \ufeffwere disadvantaged by a crash at the Brazil Grand Prix<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two could only race each other following damage to their rear wings due to debris from Alex Albon and Kevin Magnussen's crash early in the F1 race<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The race was then red flagged for over half an hour before Ricciardo and Piastri were forced to restart from pit lane and a lap behind the grid due to both drivers entering the pits with others lapping behind the safety car.<\/p>\n

Ricciardo launched on his radio after the race, calling the rules "shit" after he was unable to unlap himself. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"All right, I could rant and explain how f—ing shit these rules are but we all know it," he said.<\/p>\n

"So sorry for you guys. He did a great job repairing the car.<\/p>\n

"I think we had quite a bit (of pace) as well, so it's f—ing frustrating … we all shared the frustration. There were definitely some points on the table where the pace was very strong."<\/p>\n

Post-race, Ricciardo explained he had to duck as a tyre from the crash headed towards him.<\/p>\n

"The incident itself, obviously I was at the back so I saw quite early the smoke and the debris and the chaos," he said.<\/p>\n

"I remember seeing a tyre came off the rim, kind of frisbeeing through the air and started coming close, I think even my instinct was to duck my head and I didn't feel anything hit me so I was like 'all right, cool'.<\/p>\n

"And then after turn one I checked the mirrors \ufeffand I could see the rear wing was damaged so I figured the tyre got the wing.<\/p>\n

"But then we got the news it was red flagged \ufeffso I was like 'all right the team can hopefully repair it', and they did a great job at the time but then they told us we were a lap down so (that was) really frustrating."<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old also described the rule placing him a lap down as a "flaw".<\/p>\n

"I think it exposed a flaw in the rules," he said.<\/p>\n

"I didn't feel we ever did a racing lap and then you already start the race a lap down. So Oscar and I fell victim to that today.<\/p>\n

"For me it's OK two of us today, but if 15 \ufeffcars had damage and had to do what we did, are they going to start a race with 15 cars a lap down? I don't think so. So I think they need to be a bit more open-minded."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
