M\ufeffitchell Starc<\/a> has taken a cheeky swipe at England<\/a> following Australia's 33-run victory<\/a> at the Cricket World Cup<\/a>, suggesting the now ousted reigning champions would "probably claim a moral victory".<\/p>\n

Speaking to India's Star Sports, Starc said the win, which was Australia's fifth in a row at the tournament, "keeps the momentum going" after the side's early losses to India and South Africa.<\/p>\n

"Not the best start but we have progressed nicely," he said post-match.<\/p>\n

"They are the defending champions, we thought they would come aggressively at us."<\/p>\n

The quip referred to \ufeffEnglish batter Harry Brook's claim during this year's contentious Ashes series that the hosts could "make it a moral victory" with a win in the fifth and final Test.<\/p>\n

In Ahmedabad, Australia set England a \ufefftarget of 287 after Travis Head and David Warner were dismissed for a combined 26 runs.<\/p>\n

However, \ufeffthe Aussies had a new weapon to unleash in spinner Adam Zampa.<\/p>\n

Starc was full of praise for Zampa who he said turned the contest by taking England's "momentum away".<\/p>\n

He finished with figures of 3-21 from his 10 overs, along with a stunning catch to dismiss David Willey and a crucial stand with the bat.<\/p>\n
