Kody Garland's horror TCR Australia Series<\/a> campaign has continued after a terrifying crash midway through the fastest turn at Sydney Motorsport Park.<\/p>\n

The Garry Rogers Motorsport driver suffered a high-speed spin after a suspected tyre failure at turn one before nose-diving the concrete wall.<\/p>\n

The unusual incident saw him clobber an unprotected part of the wall on the inside of the circuit, causing significant damage to his Peugeot 308.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport is the only place to watch every second of the 2023 SpeedSeries.<\/strong><\/em> All the action streaming ad-free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

After an initial assessment, a tarpaulin cover was draped over the car before the second practice session.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Wide World of Sports, Garland said it was unlikely he'd race at Sydney Motorsport Park and there are serious doubts the car will be fixed in time for the Bathurst International on November 10-12.<\/p>\n

"Looks like it, yeah," said Garland when asked if his weekend was over.<\/p>\n

"Pretty substantial hit. I'm not sure I'll be able to do a lot at this stage."<\/p>\n

Garland was uninjured in the crash that he said he could only reason was due to a tyre failure.<\/p>\n

"On entry, the rear of the car was really unstable. I got to the mid-corner phase and just had a massive snap in the rear end," he explained.<\/p>\n

"I did everything I could to try and gather it back up and then right rear got onto the outside kerb and just sort of rotated the car too far. I was simply just a passenger from there and made the inside wall.<\/p>\n

"Just looking at it now, there's a massive gash in the side wall of the left rear \u2013 so we're a bit worried that possibly that was flat and caused it. Not really sure at this stage.<\/p>\n

"We didn't have an issue through turn one every other time beforehand. Yeah, it's just a bit bizarre."<\/p>\n

Garland has had a tough season blighted by mechanical woes.<\/p>\n

After starting the season with a third place finish at Symmons Plains, it's been a slog since with six top 10 finishes from 15 races.<\/p>\n

"Started off strong, but yeah, it's a hard gig," he said.<\/p>\n

"You try your best every weekend but things are out of your hands."<\/p>\n

With the Bathurst International less than a week away, Garland is unsure whether he'll be there racing.<\/p>\n

"I honestly haven't really given it a thought at this stage," he said.<\/p>\n

"I just think the boys are seeing what's doable and we'll just have to get together and see what we can do."<\/p>\n

The combined TCR World Tour and TCR Australia Series grid has been reduced to 24 cars as a result.<\/p>\n
