Cricket NSW<\/a>'s crisis has continued after Australian great Michael Bevan revealed that he won't be joining as a batting consultant, months after \ufeffhis appointment was announced by the organisation.<\/p>\n

Bevan\ufeff and former Australian opener Shane Watson<\/a> were announced as coaching consultants in September to help New South Wales turn the corner after a winless Sheffield Shield<\/a> season.<\/p>\n

However, it now appears Bevan will not be joining the fold, according to the \ufeff53-year-old himself.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt was announced pre-season that I would be working with (Cricket NSW) as a batting consultant – to date, this hasn't happened," he wrote on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Michael<\/p>\n

"Given the timing, I feel it is important that the current coaches are afforded every opportunity to stamp their quality and be allowed in guide Cricket NSW back to a position of strength.<\/p>\n

"Unfortunately this means, this year they won't be receiving the magical Bevo 'finishing' methodology. Maybe next year."<\/p>\n

Bevan is New South Wales' all-time leading Sheffield Shield runscorer, with his \ufeff8174 runs at an average of 61.92 in the competition well ahead of the second-placed Mark Waugh (7232 runs).<\/p>\n

Last season was the first time New South Wales went winless in the Sheffield Shield since 1938-39, and sparked a raft of off-field changes.<\/p>\n

Moises Henriques was made the captain in all three formats, while Watson and Bevan were expected to take on jobs as \ufeffbatting consultants under coach Greg Shipperd.<\/p>\n

Former Test bowlers Stuart Clark and Geoff Lawson were also appointed as selectors.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"No one at Cricket NSW was happy with what happened last season and we have now taken steps to turn things around, with the aim to build consistent success," CEO Lee Germon said in September when the announcement was made.<\/p>\n

"All of these guys come with extremely accomplished resumes and they have NSW cricket and the Blues in their DNA. That will bring a renewed edge to our structure and the playing group.<\/p>\n

"The program is now being led by Greg Mail and Greg Shipperd and the playing squad, led by Moises (Henriques), have knuckled down in the off-season and are determined to challenge for titles.<\/p>\n

"Now, by bringing in the collective experience and world-class skills of Michael Bevan and Shane Watson, we have added to our off-field support structure."<\/p>\n
