Pa\ufeffkistan<\/a> players have reportedly claimed they have not been paid by the country's governing body of cricket for five months, throwing the nation's 50-over World Cup<\/a> campaign into further turmoil.<\/p>\n

The accusations follow Pakistan's one-wicket defeat to South Africa<\/a> and the\ufeff resignation of Inzamam-ul-Haq, who stepped down as chief selector amid allegations of a conflict of interest.<\/p>\n

AFP reported that three Pakistan players told the publication they had not been paid by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for five months, casting more doubt over the governing body's integrity.<\/p>\n

"In terms of the noise around the team, look, playing for Pakistan and working within this team is a huge privilege," said Pakistan coach Grant Bradburn.<\/p>\n

"To prepare ourselves and give our best are the things that we focus on, the things within our control, and there are great expectations and we're desperate to make our nation proud."<\/p>\n

The finances of Pakistan players are already affected by being banned from featuring in the Indian Premier League, the cashed-up T20 franchise tournament in which many cricketers earn millions of dollars in just two months.<\/p>\n

In September, international Pakistan players and the\ufeff PCB struck what the governing body called a "momentous" three-year central contract deal when it was agreed that players would receive a portion of International Cricket Council revenue.<\/p>\n

Players and the PCB had been in a deadlock since the previous contracts expired on June 30.<\/p>\n

Pakistan is floundering in seventh on the table ahead of a match against\ufeff Bangladesh on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Babar Azam's men opened their campaign with wins against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka, but have since lost to India, Australia, Afghanistan and South Africa.<\/p>\n

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur urged the PCB to avoid "witch hunts" following the loss to the Proteas.<\/p>\n

The PCB\ufeff had said after the loss to Afghanistan that "the board would make decisions in the best interests of Pakistan cricket based on the team's performances in the World Cup", amid media criticism directed at Azam.<\/p>\n

"They're going to be blaming everybody, don't worry, it's just the way of the world," Arthur said.<\/p>\n

"It's really unfair to start a witch hunt, certainly on Babar Azam, on Inzi [Inzamam-ul-Haq], on our coaches, on the management team.<\/p>\n

"What I do know is the boys have tried and the effort of the coaching staff, the effort of the players, has been first-class.<\/p>\n

"If they would see that the amount of effort that the players and staff put in, they would be amazed."<\/p>\n
