NRL<\/a> legends Andrew Johns<\/a> and Brad Fittler<\/a> have been left confused after Papua New Guinea<\/a> forward Keven Appo was sin binned for a dangerous tackle in his side's 43-16 loss to Fiji in the Pacific Championships.<\/p>\n

Appo's involvement in a tackle on King Vuniyayawa led to the Fiji prop's head being driven into the ground, however the former Kangaroos believed hooker Edwin Ipape should've left the field after his hands were in between the legs of Vuniyayawa.<\/p>\n

"He's got the wrong person," Johns said of referee Chris Butler's call on Nine's coverage.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Fittler doubled down at half-time, insisting Ipape's involvement led to the dangerous nature of the tackle. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI thought they got the wrong bloke, I know he came down with the tackle but it was Ipape who had his arm between the legs which got him in the angle where the tackle became dangerous," he said.<\/p>\n

"Every time you put your hand in between their legs it always ends in tears."<\/p>\n

Appo's departure came when Fiji were leading 12-4, and they managed to capitalise on his absence with the score 19-4 at half-time.<\/p>\n

At the time of the tackle, Johns didn't believe it warranted a sin bin. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Can't be a send off, I think it just should be on report, that's enough … penalty sufficient," he said.<\/p>\n

Fiji's strong first half was backed up by a dominant second stanza, scoring four tries to PNG's two.<\/p>\n

Maika Sivo finished the match with two tries for Fiji while Kurt Donoghoe also scored a double, which included his first four-pointer for the country. Tui Kamikamica, Caleb Navale and Jason Qareqare were the other try-scorers while Brandon Wakeham hit the side's field goal.<\/p>\n

For PNG, Alex Johnston, Benji Kot and Epel Kapinias crossed the line.<\/p>\n
