Romantic Warrior has won the Cox Plate<\/a> in stunning photo finish fashion, denying Mr Brightside a fairytale ending on Saturday.<\/p>\n

On the rails, Mr Brightside's team were sure he had pinched victory, but \ufefffell agonisingly short when it mattered most.<\/p>\n

Winning jockey James McDonald was emotional post race, convinced he had lost until he was approached by camera crews.<\/p>\n

"We won the Cox Plate, baby! Geez, I can't believe it," McDonalds told racing.com post run.<\/p>\n

"I can't believe we won the Cox Plate. I thought we got beat."<\/p>\n

Hong Kong based trainer Danny Shum\ufeff was ecstatic post victory.<\/p>\n

"I don't know how to tell you I'm so happy," Shum said on Racing.com.<\/p>\n

McDonald becomes the first jockey to go back-to-back in the Cox Plate on different horses\ufeff in 33 years, after he won the 2022 race on Anamoe.<\/p>\n

"I've got so much faith in this horse, I've had so much to do with him," McDonald said.<\/p>\n
