Sydney Sixers<\/a> wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy<\/a>'s Women's Big Bash League<\/a> season is officially over, after undergoing hand surgery following a \ufeffdog attack.<\/p>\n

Healy severed an artery in her right index finger\ufeff, after an altercation between her two Staffordshire bull terriers, with the Sixers confirming there was no bone or tendon damage.<\/p>\n

Despite not sustaining any serious damage, the 33-year-old has been ruled out of the remaining fixture for the WBBL, which wraps up at the beginning of December.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Healy expressed her disappointment, but said she will remain focused on her recovery, with hopes she can prove her fitness for the Australian Women's cricket team's multi-format India tour in December.<\/p>\n

"This is not the news I was hoping for because I love playing in the WBBL and I love the Sydney Sixers," Healy said in a statement on Friday.<\/p>\n

"My focus now will be on making a full recovery and returning to play when the time is right."<\/p>\n

As for her next moves, Healy will "spend time" with the Sixers squad, in hopes they can record their first win of the season.<\/p>\n

"I'll continue to spend time with the Sixers squad and offer any help I can to help the team and the club thrive for the rest of the competition," Healy said.<\/p>\n

"I'll enjoy being able to watch the WBBL from afar as the tournament continues to go from strength to strength."<\/p>\n

During the week after the incident, Healy spoke to the media about the aftermath with her dogs.<\/p>\n

"My right index finger took a bit of a battering \u2026 when I pulled my finger out initially, I thought I was in strife," Healy said.<\/p>\n

"They're probably worse for wear than I was. <\/p>\n

"But we're all friends, we all sat on the couch together last night and debriefed the situation, so we're all getting along fine."\ufeff<\/p>\n

As for the Sixers, their season is off to a rocky start, after suffering three consecutive losses to the Melbourne Stars, Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat\ufeff.<\/p>\n
