No stranger to press conference mischief, Tyson Fury's<\/a> father, John, ripped his shirt off and joined the pre-fight face off with Francis Ngannou<\/a>, before challenging the former UFC<\/a> champ's trainer, boxing great Mike Tyson<\/a>, to a fight.<\/p>\n

While Fury and Ngannou playfully threw verbal jabs at each other for the cameras, security pulled back a shirtless Fury, who walked in front of the fighters, blocking the view.<\/p>\n

Fury Snr had an eventful time during the press conference\ufeff even charging down the stage to square up to "Iron Mike".<\/p>\n

John Fury called out Tyson several times during the press conference, with Iron Mike laughing back before eventually agreeing to a bout.<\/p>\n

"Your man will get his head boxed off and stopped at will my pal, don't you worry about that," Fury said. "If I'm wrong, me and you will fight straight after!"<\/p>\n

Mike Tyson then punched the air laughing and screamed "Yeah!"<\/p>\n

John Fury added: \ufeff "Me and the great Mike. Whatever the outcome, me and you will fight."<\/p>\n

"All day baby," Tyson replied.<\/p>\n

The energy of the overall press conference was jovial in comparison to Fury Snr's shenanigans at other appearances.\ufeff<\/p>\n

During the media gathering between KSI and his son, Tommy, John Fury clashed with KSI's camp and started punching a glass panel to try and get to the influencer.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Fight Hub TV moments after the official Ngannou press conference, John Fury confirmed he's serious about taking on Tyson.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Why not? If he wants it, I want it," said "The great Mike Tyson, he's a legend. I respect the man. Let's not get confused here.<\/p>\n

"I've got a lot of respect for Mike Tyson. He's a legend. I've named my boy after him, but for me to be in the same room, at the same table, doing what we're doing, it's an honour for me.<\/p>\n

"If I can share the ring with him at some time or another, it's the icing on the cake of my life. What a story, what a movie.<\/p>\n

"I named my son after him, and I end up fighting him, win, lose, or draw, probably in the greatest kingdom of the world in Saudi Arabia. The up-and-coming place and the place to be."<\/p>\n

Fury v Ngannou is a 10-round fight and will count as an official bout according to the WBC, for whom Fury is the heavyweight champion. Fury's belt will not be at stake, though, on the off-chance he is beaten.<\/p>\n

Few are giving Ngannou any hope, despite his one-time status as the standout fighter in UFC before an acrimonious departure in January that led to him signing with the Professional Fighters League on an MMA deal only.<\/p>\n

Ngannou hasn't fought in nearly two years, since defeating Ciryl Gane in UFC 270 in January 2022. Then there's the small matter of him taking on the reigning world heavyweight champion and never having boxed before.<\/p>\n

Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, is calling the occasion a "game-changer." Others might call it a money-grab holding up the heavily trailed unification fight between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk \u2014 the WBA, WBO and IBF champion from Ukraine \u2014 for which a deal has been signed, even if a date has not been announced.<\/p>\n

"What I'm seeing at the moment," Warren said, "is people going crazy for guys who have not had any amateur background, YouTuber guys, and they're buying into it big time. If it's there, people will buy into it."<\/p>\n
