A whirlwind 40-ball hundred from Glenn Maxwell stole the show<\/a> in Delhi, as records
\n tumbled during Australia's 309-run win<\/a> over the Netherlands.\n<\/p>\n

In just the third ever clash between the two countries in the 50-over format, Maxwell
\n made sure their rare matchup was a memorable one \u2013 re-writing the fastest ever World Cup<\/a> hundred that was only claimed by Aiden Markram three weeks ago in his
\n 49-ball blitz against Sri Lanka.\n<\/p>\n

The fourth-quickest hundred in ODI history gave the Aussies<\/a> every inch of momentum
\n heading into the innings break, before skittling the Netherlands for just 90 runs in 21 overs.\n<\/p>\n

The mammoth victory is the largest win by method of runs in the World Cup's
\n existence, as well as any Australian one-day game.\n<\/p>\n

\"Warner\u00a0survives\u00a0on\u00a0review\u00a0after\u00a0ambiguous\u00a0catch\"<\/p>\n

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Australia's platform for a boundary barrage
\n was well and truly set up by the top order.\n<\/p>\n

David Warner (104 runs off 93 balls) was once again the shining light up top, drawing
\n level with Sachin Tendulkar with six World Cup hundreds to stand only behind Rohit
\n Sharma (seven) for the most ever tournament tons.\n<\/p>\n

Alarm bells were ringing early for the Dutch to Warner, as four of his 11 fours came in
\n the third over of the day – all consecutively placed to perfection through point off
\n spinner Aryan Dutt.\n<\/p>\n

Steve Smith<\/a> (71 off 68) and Marnus Labuschagne (62 off 47) also looked in great touch,
\n and scored at a strike rate that fans would be very pleased with heading into the
\n second half of the tournament.\n<\/p>\n

Only Ricky Ponting (11) has more 50+ scores in World Cup matches for Australia than
\n Steve Smith, who's outing today seems to have brought him back into much-needed
\n form.\n<\/p>\n

With Warner, Smith and Labuschagne all removed before Maxwell had faced a ball,
\n the Dutch could be forgiven for thinking that the on-field carnage was nearly over.\n<\/p>\n

In fact, Maxwell's run of 16 ODI innings without a fifty in some ways capped the
\n damage they thought he could do, especially in just a 10-over span.\n<\/p>\n

They were gravely mistaken though, as Maxwell scored his first 50 runs from 27 balls –
\n before going berserk in his next 13 to bring up a memorable third one-day ton.\n<\/p>\n

Amazingly, the 35-year-old said post-game that he had been sick in the days leading
\n up to their clash.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

"I didn't have many high hopes – I've been pretty crook the past couple days; that has
\n coincided with a sleepless night last night," said Maxwell.\n<\/p>\n

Before last night, no batter in one-day cricket history had ever scored a century
\n without facing a ball in the first 40 overs of their side's innings.\n<\/p>\n

Former teammate Shane Watson was glowing in his assessment of Maxwell's innings,
\n labelling his efforts as 'outrageous' multiple times during the broadcast.\n<\/p>\n

Captain Pat Cummins also played a role in getting 'The Big Show' to his milestone,
\n scoring eight of the 103 runs registered for the seventh wicket stand between the duo.\n<\/p>\n

The partnership run rate of 14.37 \u2013 more than two a ball – is the fastest 100-plus run stand
\n for any wicket in Australian World Cup history.\n<\/p>\n

And for all the batting records broken in Deli overnight, the Australian bowlers still
\n managed to have their say in the record books.\n<\/p>\n

Their effort to take 10 wickets for 90 runs had the Netherlands record their third-lowest
\n total in ODI history \u2013 just passing their 80 and 86 against the West Indies and Sri Lanka
\n respectively.\n<\/p>\n

Mitch Starc (1\/22 off 4 overs) bowled well once again with the new ball, with his figures
\n not doing his efforts justice \u2013 thanks to opener Vikramjit Singh (25 off 25) edging him
\n through third man multiple times for four.\n<\/p>\n

Golden boy Glenn Maxwell had a superb direct-hit run out from mid-off in the sixth
\n over, before Josh Hazlewood (1\/27 off 6) found his length to remove Colin Ackermann
\n (10 off 11) and have the Netherlands 3\/47.\n<\/p>\n

From there, Mitch Marsh (2\/19 off 4) kept their middle order quiet before Adam Zampa
\n (4\/8 off 3) ran riot on a clueless Dutch tail.\n<\/p>\n

After his efforts against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and now the Netherlands – Zampa became
\n just the 13th player to collect three consecutive four-wicket hauls in ODI's, terrorising
\n teams with his googly.\n<\/p>\n

\"Adam<\/p>\n

His success when hitting the front pad of opposition batters continued, with seven of
\n his last 11 wickets this tournament coming in the form of an LBW.\n<\/p>\n

A dropped stumping chance from Josh Inglis – which inadvertently bounced off his
\n gloves and onto the stumps anyway \u2013 removed Paul van Meekeren on the last ball of
\n the 21st over, and completed what was one of the most one-sided international
\n matches in recent memory.\n<\/p>\n

The Australians will next take on trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand on Saturday
\n (coverage starts on Nine and 9Now from 3.30pm AEDT), in what is shaping as a crucial match for both sides in their quest to
