A\ufeffustralian NBA<\/a> star Josh Green has been rewarded with a hefty $64 million extension following an impressive season with the Dallas Mavericks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Green, 22, signed a three-year extension that will tie him down to the Mavericks through the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n

The Sydney native, who was drafted 18th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, is the 12th player from his class to sign a rookie extension deal.<\/p>\n

Green averaged a career-high in points (9.1) and rebounds per game (3.0) in 60 games last season, cementing himself as one of the league's most efficient players on offence.<\/p>\n

The Aussie was just one of three players to shoot over 50 per cent from the field and over 40 per cent from three-point range, joining star duo Kevin Durant<\/a> and Kawhi Leonard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Green joins star teammate Luka Doncic<\/a> as the only Dallas player to sign a rookie extension \ufeffwith the franchise since Devin Harris did so in 2007.<\/p>\n

"I know I want to be here. I'm going to work as if I'm going to be here for a long time. I want to be able to win in Dallas," Green, who turns 24 next month, said at the Mavericks' media day earlier this month.<\/p>\n

"I'm going to be in Dallas. Whatever their decision, it is their decision. I have the same goal every single day, and that's just to be the best teammate or the best player I can be for the team."<\/p>\n

Green was one of the few shining lights in the Boomers' disappointing FIBA World Cup campaign in August.<\/p>\n

"I just saw it when we came back from camp. The guy that I met for the first time a year ago, and the player that came into camp the first couple days, I told him, I said: 'I was so proud of the development'," Boomers coach Brian Goorjian said of Green's development.<\/p>\n

"Full credit to the Dallas Mavericks and what they're doing with their youth because he came in just a much better basketball player than in Tokyo the last time."\ufeff<\/p>\n
