A\ufeffustralian star Alyssa Healy<\/a> briefly feared for her career after hurting her hand in a dog attack at her home on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Healy was withdrawn from the Sydney Sixers<\/a>' squad ahead of their 42-run loss to the Sydney Thunder at North Sydney Oval on Sunday, with the team initially calling the attack a "domestic incident".<\/p>\n

Thunder star Phoebe Litchfield later revealed to the public that Healy had been hurt in a "pretty vicious dog attack"<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Healy elaborated on Monday, saying the blood spilled as a result of the attack resembled a "crime scene".<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI've got two puppy dogs that were having a bit of a rough and tumble. It got a little bit more than that and unfortunately I got my hand in the wrong place," she said.<\/p>\n

"When I pulled my finger out, initially I thought I was in strife. I think there was an artery involved which probably made it look more like a crime scene than it needed to be."<\/p>\n

Healy said her initial fears had been allayed following further inspection of her injury.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI'd say (a) shorter term more than longer term (absence), just the way that people are talking," she said.<\/p>\n

"I think it's all going to come down to function and whether I can continue to grip the bat the way that I need to or catch the ball."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
