Former Australian<\/a> captain Mark Taylor<\/a> has warned the side over a selection dilemma has Travis Head<\/a> prepares to return.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old arrived in India recently as his recovery from a broken hand<\/a> continues.<\/p>\n

With Australia in fourth place, Head is likely to slot straight back in but whether he resumes in his usual opening spot for ODI cricket is up for debate after David Warner and Mitch Marsh both scored centuries against Pakistan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Making way for Head could be Marnus Labuschagne<\/a> who was a late inclusion after Ashton Agar's withdrawal.<\/p>\n

Taylor believes that decision could upset the balance of Australia's batting line-up.<\/p>\n

"I think (selector) George Bailey's already shown his hand<\/a> \ufeffthat they're going to play him (Head) at the top of the order which in a way is an aggressive move but the one concern Australia will have is that Labuschagne I think will make way," he told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"More than likely he'll make way, but we're leaving out someone like Labuschagne who's an out and out batter which if you look at the games we won leading into this tournament, Labuschagne played well.<\/p>\n

"Sometimes you need that in one-day cricket, if there's a bit of spin or seam, you need someone who can bat long, who can bat time.<\/p>\n

"Look at (New Zealand's) Daryl Mitchell (against India), \ufeffif they'd had a decent hitter at the end they'd have made 300 and it would've been a very interesting game of cricket, you need someone who can bat through.<\/p>\n

\"India<\/p>\n

"At the moment my fear for Australia is they want to go and go hard which is the way of cricket these days but you don't want to leave too much to do for your tail at the end of the game. I still think it's an easier game to play when one of your top four makes a score of a hundred or better."<\/p>\n

Against Pakistan, Warner and Marsh proved the heroes<\/a>, but the fragility of Australia's middle order was exposed as Marcus Stoinis scoring 21, while Glenn Ma\ufeffxwell, Steve Smith, Stoinis, Josh Inglis and Labuschagne combined for 49 runs between them.<\/p>\n

Labuschagne was pushed down the order to seventh.<\/p>\n

Taylor believes there was a place for the Queenslander's style of batting no matter the situation. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"The \ufeffother day when Australia put on 259 for the first wicket, you don't need it but even then everyone goes out and tries to score 12 an over and we only scored seven an over off the last 16 overs because everyone's swinging hard," he said.<\/p>\n

"But it's not always easy to swing hard, sometimes you need to play cricket shots.<\/p>\n

"We run into an India in a semi-final or someone like that, they're not going to give you a lot of freebies.<\/p>\n

"Sometimes you need to be able to manipulate the ball around and use your feet. It's not like T20 when you can just stand and deliver."<\/p>\n

After losing their opening two games against India and South Africa, Australia have undergone a resurgence with victories over Sri Lanka and Pakistan.<\/p>\n

The Aussies now sit in fourth and Taylor believes a change in attitude has been the catalyst for their turnaround.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI think when you go to that Sri Lanka game when Sri Lanka were 0-120 off 20 overs, we were almost on the brink there," he said.<\/p>\n

\"Warner's\u00a0outrageous\u00a098m\u00a0maximum\"<\/p>\n

"A good spell from (Pat) Cummins and some good catches in the outfield, a run out by Cummins in that game and all of a sudden Australia found some energy and bowled Sri Lanka out, got the runs, and then a 259-run partnership (against Pakistan) between Marsh and Warner and we're away.<\/p>\n

"It can change really quickly like that, particularly when you're in a place like India, hot and humid, you can get yourself down pretty quick but if you're playing well, and you're hanging on to your catches and you're winning, all of a sudden it doesn't seem as hot and doesn't seem as humid."<\/p>\n
