UFC<\/a> legend Conor McGregor<\/a> has accused Islam Makhachev of an illegal act when finishing off Alexander Volkanovski in UFC 294<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After copping a kick to the head, Volkanovski<\/a> fell to the ground dazed and copped a barrage of punches from the Dagestani champion.<\/p>\n

However, posting to social media, McGregor said he believes the \ufeffpunches were "tricky" to judge with a number landing on the back of the head of the Australian, which are illegal.<\/p>\n

"A difficult sport to ref. To stop that on a warning or a point deduction when Volk was essentially out already is a tricky one," he said on X, formerly known as Twitter, in a since deleted post.<\/p>\n

"But there would be grounds for it, 100 per cent. Would have been nail biting stuff. I'd have loved to see it happen.<\/p>\n

"Back of the head shots are not good."<\/p>\n

Post-fight, Volkanovski made no complaints about the actions of his opponent. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"A great set up. A great kick. It's hard, I don't like losing. It hurts me," he said.<\/p>\n

"He's (Makhachev) a great champion. I back myself every single time and I still stand by that, always back yourself."<\/p>\n

The featherweight title holder revealed in his press conference that he'd been struggling with his mental health during an absence from the ring<\/a>, having agreed to the lightweight battle with only 11 days notice.<\/p>\n
