Boomers<\/a> great Andrew Bogut<\/a> has voiced concerns about Ben Simmons<\/a>' fit on the Australian team, warning fans not to get too excited about a potential appearance in Paris.<\/p>\n

Simmons has signalled his intention to finally represent Australia, telling Nine's Sports Sunday he is "100 per cent committed" to joining the Boomers<\/a> at next year's Olympics.<\/p>\n

Bogut, who represented Australia at three Olympics, isn't totally convinced by the 27-year-old's guarantee.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"Obviously, if he puts his hand up you welcome him with open arms, but it's not as easy as just slotting him in and thinking, 'Oh, we're going to get a medal now'," he told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"He plays a similar style to Josh Giddey<\/a>, can you have those guys on the court at the same time? It's yet to be seen in FIBA.<\/p>\n

"There is a lot of water to go under the bridge before that happens. The unfortunate reality of the Ben situation is we've heard that story before – he wants to play and then something comes up and then he doesn't play.<\/p>\n

"So until we have him in the jersey, we don't want to get ahead of ourselves and think about it too much."<\/p>\n

Bogut said the Boomers' disappointing FIBA World Cup performance this year was a "concern" in the lead-up to Paris 2024.<\/p>\n

"I think the system that we play is going to have to be tweaked, the rotation of guys that were playing heavy minutes in the last two campaigns will need to be tweaked, so there's a lot of work.<\/p>\n

"There has to be changes. That result – you could ask anyone on the team, the coaches, the federation – it's not a result that is acceptable for the Boomers considering the work that we've done in the last decade.<\/p>\n
