Australian cricket<\/a> captain Pat Cummins<\/a> has explained why the Australia Cricketers' Association (ACA) decided to hand over what's been dubbed a 'fighting fund' to the country's netballers.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe Australian Netball<\/a> Players' Association and Netball Australia<\/a> are currently in a bitter pay dispute that this month led to the players handing over their intellectual property rights to the ANPA.<\/p>\n

This week, ACA CEO Todd Greenberg<\/a> confirmed the association will donate $200,000 for the fund as the netballers push for a revenue-sharing model. \ufeff<\/p>\n

ACA's gesture comes only six years after it had its own highly publicised pay dispute with Cricket Australia\ufeff, which included the same model.<\/p>\n

Cummins revealed that past experience played a role in supporting the netballers. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffObviously the netballers are in a bit of a tricky situation at the moment and we were in a similar situation six or seven years ago and we got some support that really helped the players and that was from a few outside individuals," he said ahead of Australia's World Cup clash against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

"They asked for a lending hand, the ACA stepped up and said yeah we'll create a bit of a fund to help you out and hopefully get you through these next couple of months.<\/p>\n

"I know all the sports are pretty closely linked and all the player associations work really closely so thought it was a good opportunity to be able to help."<\/p>\n

As the ODI side played in its own tournament, the Australian Diamonds are currently playing in the Constellation Cup against New Zealand.<\/p>\n

The Silver Ferns claimed a 56-53 win against Australia on Thursday, leaving the series alive heading into Monday's fourth and final game.<\/p>\n

\ufeffSpeaking after the loss, Diamonds captain Liz Watson – who has previously outlined her frustrations with the pay dispute<\/a> – described ACA's support as "special".<\/p>\n

"It's obviously really cool and really special to know that we've got that support … it's happening at home, it's not distracting this group here, we're focused on this job we need to do," she said.<\/p>\n

"We've got really great delegates and the rest of the league \ufeffat home are supporting us.<\/p>\n
