Pakistan<\/a>'s cricketers have been struck by a mystery illness ahead of their World Cup<\/a> clash \ufeffagainst Australia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

ESPNcricinfo has reported that several players have been impacted by flu or high fever with Abdullah Shafique currently in quarantine in his room while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel and Zaman Khan are also under the weather.<\/p>\n

Usama Mir has also reportedly been unwell with a number of players unable to attend an optional training session this week.<\/p>\n

Pakistan have provided positive news on the viral infection though, suggesting all players will play against Australia. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"The players who were down with fever have either recovered, or are in the recovery stage," a team spokesman told The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"We expect all of them to be available for Friday's game."<\/p>\n

The Pakistan Cricket Board had previously confirmed that players were under observation from the medical panel.<\/p>\n

Australia's clash with Pakistan will have important ramifications for the World Cup ladder with both sides fighting for a top four spot.<\/p>\n

Pakistan are currently fourth on four points while Australia moved into seventh on two points thanks to Afghanistan's loss to New Zealand<\/a>.<\/p>\n
