Latrell Mitchell<\/a> has hit out at critics of Kangaroos<\/a> players not singing the national anthem after Payne Haas, Kotoni Staggs, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Selwyn Cobbo were all captured remaining silent before their clash against Samoa<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\ufeffThe four players copped backlash from rugby league legend Max Krilich who told News Corp "if you don't to want sing the anthem then don't play for the Kangaroos."<\/p>\n

Posting on Instagram, Mitchell hit back, suggesting ways to include Indigenous people in the process. <\/p>\n

"One in all in, he says?," wrote Mitchell.<\/p>\n

"Well, make a song that includes Indigenous people.<\/p>\n

\"Kangaroos<\/p>\n

"Maybe change the date [of Australia Day]? Or, I don't know even a voice to be heard?"<\/p>\n

A picture of Cobbo also featured on Mitchell's account which had a note stating "hard to be heard when you don't have a voice". <\/p>\n

Mitchell joins a number of former players speaking out against Krilich's comments with Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga<\/a> and legend Johnathan Thurston defending the quartet. <\/p>\n

"I know that the Indigenous All Stars didn't sing the anthem and didn't want the anthem played in those games at the start of the year, and that was a decision that they made as a collective group," Thurston said at the Sports Australia Hall of Fame function.<\/p>\n

"I'm not exactly sure which players didn't sing the anthem this time, but that's their belief and their personal decision.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Just like the nation voted on the referendum, they are allowed to do their thing as well. While you might not like it, that's their decision."<\/p>\n
