Wests Tigers<\/a> officials have been shocked by news that one of their most promising young players has been charged with murdering a notorious underworld figure.<\/p>\n

Local junior Masei Tavui has been charged with the murder of Dejan "Danny the Serb" Radulovic in Sydney's inner west in July.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old was arrested and charged with one count of murder at Liverpool Police Station<\/a> on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Radulovic, who was well known to police for several years, was allegedly stabbed and shot in Balmain following an altercation with two men.<\/p>\n

Police raided a home in Austral on Tuesday, seizing several items of clothing and leading Tavui away in handcuffs.<\/p>\n

He was denied bail when he appeared at Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The matter has been adjourned to December 12 when he will appear at the Downing Centre.<\/p>\n

Tigers officials have a high opinion of the football ability of Tavui, who played in the SG Ball competition as a back-rower this year.<\/p>\n

"He can play, no doubt about it, and we are shocked and saddened to hear what has happened," a Tigers source told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"But he is still innocent at this stage and will have his day in court.<\/p>\n
