Hawthorn<\/a> premiership defender Campbell Brown\ufeff has touted young Collingwood<\/a> livewire Jack Ginnivan<\/a> as a "good match" for the Hawks after he was linked to the rebuilding club.<\/p>\n

Hawthorn has expressed interest in the 20-year-old small forward with just over 24 hours to go until the AFL<\/a> trade deadline, set for 7.30pm (AEDT) on Wednesday.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The Hawks' attainment of small forward Lachie Schultz from Fremantle<\/a> has placed further doubt over Ginnivan's spot in Collingwood's AFL side.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The Magpie is contracted to Collingwood until the end of 2024, but \ufeffCampbell sees Hawthorn as a fitting destination for both parties.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffOnce Collingwood decided that maybe Jack was a player that they'd be open to not being there next year, you'd think that Hawthorn was your logical side," Campbell said on SEN radio.<\/p>\n

"I mean, their forward line was pretty impotent all year, wasn't it? Not just from a talls perspective … Luke Breust had a great year but he's an ageing player, in his mid-30s now, they've lost [Tyler] Brockman back to Western Australia and really late in the year Chad Wingard did his Achilles, so [the] best-case scenario [is] he's not back until the back end of [next season]."<\/p>\n

Ginnivan booted 40 goals from 23 AFL games in 2022 but fell out of favour in 2023, managing just 14 senior matches.<\/p>\n

However, he was a member of the Magpies' triumphant grand final side<\/a>.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Brown believes Ginnivan would "definitely" be in Hawthorn's best 22 and said he'd be an "asset" to the Hawks if they snapped him up.<\/p>\n

The former Hawk and Sun thinks Hawthorn would need to give up a late second-round pick or early third-round pick to get the deal done.<\/p>\n

However, he made a point of Ginnivan being a contracted player.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThe Hawks would be a good match, I reckon, for a guy like Jack Ginnivan if he's open to moving," Brown said.<\/p>\n

"It happened to me; [I] got put on the trade table.<\/p>\n

"With a year to go on the contract you as the player can say, 'No, I don't want to do it', it's hard to make them, to force them."<\/p>\n

Former Adelaide and Geelong forward Josh Jenkins asked on AFL Trade Radio on Tuesday if pick 33 would be "fair" in exchange for Ginnivan.<\/p>\n

But inaugural Greater Western Sydney co-captain Phil Davis suggested a lower pick would be sufficient.<\/p>\n

"I think he's more of a pick 40 or 50 kind of player," Davis said on AFL Trade Radio.<\/p>\n

Collingwood footy boss Graham Wright said on Monday that\ufeff he hadn't "taken any calls" about Ginnivan being traded.<\/p>\n

"We haven't sought to take calls, either," Wright said on AFL Trade Radio.<\/p>\n

"From our perspective, it hasn't been an issue at all.<\/p>\n

"We see Jack as a part of what we're doing, he's contracted for next year and we haven't taken any calls at all."<\/p>\n

Ginnivan landed at Collingwood as a rookie draftee in December 2020.<\/p>\n
