Players on the Dallas Cowboys<\/a> and Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> got into a scuffle near midfield as the teams were doing pregame warmups before Tuesday's (AEDT) NFL<\/a> contest.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys came out of their tunnel and onto the field to begin warmups when some players ran through a drill that Chargers defensive backs were conducting.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles safety Deane Marlowe and Dallas defensive tackle Mazi Smith exchanged words before things escalated.<\/p>\n

In the middle of the fracas, Cowboys defensive lineman Dante Fowler appeared to punch Chargers running back Austin Ekeler, knocking off Ekeler's helmet.<\/p>\n

The officiating crew and the coaching staff from both teams came in to break up the fight.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys, an early season favourite to make the Super Bowl<\/a>, spluttered last week in a humbling 42-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. And those calling the game believe this early show of aggression had something to do with it.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a week where they were embarrassed," said NFL analyst Marcus Spears said on ESPN.<\/p>\n

"When you get punched in the mouth the way that you were, you do have something to prove. You feel like your manhood has been challenged. It's not about what you do pregame, it's about what you do once the whistle blows," added Ryan Clark\ufeff.<\/p>\n
