The Socceroos<\/a>' clash with New Zealand on Wednesday morning (AEDT) will be Graham Arnold's<\/a> last chance to have a look at his players, before selecting his squad for Australia's 2026 World Cup<\/a> qualifying campaign gets underway next month in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters in England ahead of the match, the Socceroos coach said selecting his squad posed several positive "headaches"\ufeff due to the amount of depth in Australian football.<\/p>\n

Arnold, will pick a squad for Australia's games against\ufeff the Maldives or Bangladesh on November 16 at AAMI Park before the Socceroos likely take on Palestine in Algeria. A likely change of venue for that match was brought about due to the conflict in the region\ufeff with Palestine unable to host matches on home soil.<\/p>\n

"It's my last chance to have a look at some of the players that I brought in over time," Arnold said.<\/p>\n

"The crazy thing, it's not crazy, but the thing is now, I'm getting headaches now selecting a team where probably for three or four years, I didn't have that because\u2026 when I took over after Russia, it was an old squad and I had to regenerate the squad at that time, plus win matches and qualify for World Cups.<\/p>\n

"I think this is only my 10th friendly out of 42 games\u2026 that I've been able to test players and give them opportunities.<\/p>\n

"Tomorrow night is the last one and it's about the performance tomorrow night and winning the game and a certain amount of players to show me what they've got moving ahead for the World Cup qualifiers that start in November and and also the Asian Cup in January."<\/p>\n

The Socceroos have some fresh blood assembled in England for the All-Whites clash at the Gtech Community Stadium in London, with 14 players missing from their 2022 World Cup squad, accounting for a couple of retirements in Danny Vukovic (international football) and Aaron Mooy.<\/p>\n

The Socceroos and New Zealand will be playing for the recently rediscovered ANZAC Soccer Ashes trophy, which was created in 1923. Both countries took part in the trans-Tasman series until the mid-1950s.<\/p>\n

The trophy was found in the garage of a late former Australian football official this year and will be up for grabs in west London.<\/p>\n
