Eddie Jones<\/a> is staying.<\/p>\n

At least, that's what the Wallabies<\/a> head coach has said after denying reports he has spoken to Japanese rugby officials about leading their national team.<\/p>\n

The Wallabies' campaign was rocked by the claims midway through the Rugby World Cup that Jones might leave before his $5 million deal was up.<\/p>\n

Now, Jones has finally denied he spoke to the Japan Rugby Football Union.<\/p>\n

Fresh off returning from the tournament in France, Jones addressed the media at Coogee Oval where he confirmed his commitment to Rugby Australia.<\/p>\n

That's as long as Rugby Australia are happy to have him.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"Staying mate," said Jones.<\/p>\n

"I've always been committed to Australian rugby. \ufeffI want to leave it in a better place and that's still the job."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Asked whether he's committed through to the end of his contract, Jones said that's not up for him to decide although he wants to see out the deal.<\/p>\n

"That's not absolutely my decision, is it? We've got a review going forward and we'll see what happens at the end of the review," he explained.<\/p>\n

Pressed further, Jones said he was "not worried" when asked if there were any concerns he might be sacked by Rugby Australia before he could walk on his own accord.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I don't control those sorts of things," he said.<\/p>\n

"All I can do is coach. I went to the World Cup, came in in a short period of time, made a decision on the team, made a decision we needed to go with youth, and whilst the results at the World Cup weren't the results we wanted, I think I've left the Australian team in a great position to go onto 2027. That judgement will be decided by the 2027 World Cup."<\/p>\n

"As you know, we play a game where the \ufeffcoach doesn't decide how long they stay."<\/p>\n

Asked if had support from Rugby Australia, Jones replied, "I think so."<\/p>\n

Then the question about Japan came. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"I haven't been speaking to anyone, mate," said Jones of the JRFU.<\/p>\n
