Coaching the New Zealand international team<\/a> and NSW<\/a> at the same time would not be a burden, says Michael Maguire<\/a>, amid talk the 2014 premiership winner has been earmarked as Brad Fittler's<\/a> replacement.<\/p>\n

It's understood the NSWRL has tagged Maguire as the preferred candidate to lead the Blues during next year's series, although the parties have yet to strike an official agreement.<\/p>\n

Maguire will continue in his role as head coach of the New Zealand men's team, after the NZRL gave him their blessing to stay on.<\/p>\n

Maguire spoke to New Zealand media on Monday, with questions immediately being fired at him about his coaching future.<\/p>\n

However, he fended off all of them by repeating the same line over and over.<\/p>\n

"I'm fully focused about the Kiwis," Maguire said.<\/p>\n

After a few attempts by reporters to conjure more of a response, Maguier explained:\ufeff<\/p>\n

"That's what I'm going to be continually talking about and that's my goal at the moment.<\/p>\n

"I am 100 percent committed with the boys, we've done a lot of work to get to this point and I don't plan on anything getting in the way of what we're focused on.<\/p>\n

"We've got three big test matches ahead. Obviously, we've got Samoa (on Saturday), which is going to be a big game at Eden Park.<\/p>\n

"I'm expecting a really big crowd. So I'm looking forward to all the work we've been doing in the background for a long period of time coming out."<\/p>\n

However, the NZRL confirmed they'll look at the issue more closely after New Zealand's Pacific Championships campaign and make a decision about the feasibility of Maguire occupying both roles.<\/p>\n

Of concerns relating to holding both positions at the same time, the former South Sydney coach said the roles complement each other.<\/p>\n

"Because it's a campaign and not a full-time position, I actually think it's an advantage to be across what's happening at club and international level," Maguire told The Sydney Morning Herald.<\/p>\n

"That will help me at state level if that comes to pass. I'm still plugged into what's happening in football at other times of the year."<\/p>\n

While the NSWRL is content with Maguire to hold both roles, the Raiders are yet to make a call about his assistant coaching position with Canberra, with the club's board\ufeff to discuss the matter before deciding whether a replacement is required.<\/p>\n

"His sole focus is on preparing [New Zealand] for the upcoming three Test matches. In fact, that is exactly the quality that attracted us to him for the coaching role," NSWRL chairman Paul Conlon said.<\/p>\n

"He has made a long-term commitment to New Zealand Rugby League and we wish him all the best for the upcoming Test matches."<\/p>\n
