In hindsight, Cheslin Kolbe's unlikely charge-down made all the difference in South Africa's<\/a> one-point win over France<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Had Thomas Ramos converted the second try of the match, the points difference would have swung the other way in favour of the Rugby World Cup<\/a> hosts.<\/p>\n

Those two points proved crucial for the Springboks in their quarter-final win over Les Bleus, who were bundled out 29-28 at Stade de France<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Although Mbongeni Mbonambi took out man-of-the-match, Kolbe's individual performance couldn't have been far behind.<\/p>\n

"Cheslin's charge-down\u2026 you don't see that often \u2013 somebody chasing a lost cause," said South Africa head coach Jacques Nienaber.<\/p>\n

"We were opened up a couple of times but the scrambling, the effort the players put in was enormous."<\/p>\n

Springboks captain Siya Kolisi echoed Nienaber's sentiment.<\/p>\n

"It was a one-point game. Things like the charge-down from Cheslin [Kolbe], you don't see that every day," he said.<\/p>\n

"It was going to take something special for us to win. The French team and Antoine (Dupont) can hold their heads up high."<\/p>\n

Kolbe's charge-down wasn't the only incredible individual feat.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The pint-sized No.11 scored an extraordinary solo try after sprinting away from the French defence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He made the most metres of any player, with 126 all up.\ufeff<\/p>\n

In the morning's other match, England narrowly edged out Fiji with a 30-24 win<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

England scored only two tries while Fiji nabbed three. Ultimately, penalties made the difference with Owen Farrell slotting five from five.<\/p>\n

The late charge from Fiji saw them score two tries within four minutes of each other, but it was to no avail as their semi-final hopes came crashing down.<\/p>\n
