The Rugby World Cup<\/a> hosts are out.<\/p>\n

In an electric contest at Stade de France in Paris, the two sides came out swinging. They went point for point, each scoring three tries in the first half.<\/p>\n

France led at the break, up 22-19 after a penalty just short of half-time. However, an Eben Etzebeth try in the 67th minute was the defining moment for South Africa to retake the lead.<\/p>\n

They never surrendered from there, sustaining multiple attacks from France \u2013 ultimately winning 29-28.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Northern hemisphere teams topped every pool. Just one will feature in the semi-finals.<\/p>\n

New Zealand will take on Argentina on Saturday while South Africa will face England a day later. Both matches will be live, ad-free, and exclusively on Stan Sport from 5.30am.<\/a><\/p>\n

France team manager Raphael Ibanez was disconsolate in the wake of the loss.<\/p>\n

"We are very sad tonight," he said.<\/p>\n

\"Veteran<\/p>\n

"I think we gave everything to win that game. We knew it would be a very tight game and we had to score every opportunity. <\/p>\n

"We had some good opportunities but unfortunately we couldn't convert them into points."<\/p>\n

France had one last swing in the dying moments of the match but a knock-on cruelled them of any chance at a drop-goal or even scoring a try.<\/p>\n

"We had our chances, they were pragmatic and sometimes we try and try our best with the support of the French fans," Ibanez added.<\/p>\n

"This is why we are sad tonight, we are sad for them. <\/p>\n

"We have to get up and stand up and go for the next fight. <\/p>\n

"We have other games coming, not in this World Cup, but we have to still believe in the team."<\/p>\n
