All Blacks<\/a> ace Richie Mo'unga has explained the game-winning try against Ireland<\/a> was planned \u2013 but wasn't executed as initially intended.<\/p>\n

New Zealand sealed a surprised 28-24 win at Stade de France<\/a>, securing a semi-final berth against Argentina after they defeated Wales in the day's other quarter-final<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Will Jordan scored the final All Blacks try in the 53rd minute of the match (video above) after Mo'unga slipped through Ireland's defensive line.<\/p>\n

"We practised that throughout the week," said Mo'uinga, post-match.<\/p>\n

\"Will<\/p>\n

"The move wasn't actually made for me, it was made for Will Jordan on the inside and I saw the two defenders hold on him because obviously he's a big threat at the line.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I was able to get through, and thank God it happened that way because I wouldn't have had the wheels to finish that thing off.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Luckily I gave it away to the speed, which was a good way to finish. And it became pretty crucial in the end."<\/p>\n

Jordan extended his incredible record against Ireland to four tries in four matches with that effort.<\/p>\n

The Crusaders product has been a revelation since joining the All Blacks in 2020.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old has an almost 100 percent strike rate with 28 tries from 29 matches to date.<\/p>\n

Mo'unga hailed his off-siders prowess.<\/p>\n

"He's just a freak," said Mo'unga.<\/p>\n

\"New<\/p>\n

"You know the charisma that he has, just the presence. There will be a number of players like him in teams where you just know he has it.<\/p>\n

"What people don't usually see is his ability to understand the game of rugby. You see it in games where he pops up at the right time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"His anticipation is probably his biggest strength, that and his speed. He is able to read plays ahead and see where the ball is going to get to. And he sniffs out any opportunity.<\/p>\n

"He has a huge, huge future."<\/p>\n

\"Wales<\/p>\n

In the morning's other match, Argentina edged out Wales in a thrilling contest.<\/p>\n

The headline act in the 29-17 win for Los Pumas was an intercept try by Nicolas Sanchez in the 77th minute that put the result beyond doubt.<\/p>\n

With two tries apiece, penalties made all the difference between the two teams as Argentina kicked five while Wales only slotted one. \ufeff<\/p>\n

New Zealand will face Argentina in the first semi-final on October 21\ufeff at 6am AEDT.<\/p>\n
