If the All Blacks<\/a> are to win the Rugby World Cup<\/a> there's a good chance they'll have to pull off another upset along the way.<\/p>\n

The world No.4 team stunned favourites Ireland at Stade de France<\/a>, winning 28-24 to seal a semi-final against Argentina who beat Wales earlier in the day<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For two-time Rugby World Cup-winning All Blacks legend Sonny Bill Williams, the triumph over the top-ranked team is reason enough to back New Zealand to win the tournament.<\/p>\n

Ireland were front-runners to go all the way, but their wretched run of quarter-final exits ultimately continued.<\/p>\n

It's the eighth time in 10 tournaments the men in green have failed to go beyond the first leg of the knock-out phase.<\/p>\n

"I always believed in the boys and I'm sure they believed in themselves," said Williams on Stan Sport's coverage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I was over in Ireland during the week and they were a confident bunch of people, and rightly so, but I always had that quiet confidence just like this group had tonight.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"To see what it means to them … I've been there before and it means so much.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I said before the game, the team that will win this game, will have to win it without the ball and that's what they've done tonight.<\/p>\n

"I said during the week, the one that wins this game I believe will go on and win the competition."<\/p>\n

The All Blacks were particularly potent at the breakdown, winning more turnovers than the Irish \u2013 seven to four.<\/p>\n

Former Wallabies player Morgan Turinui hailed the All Blacks' ability at the breakdown and the unlikely scrum penalties they won.<\/p>\n

"What I loved from the All Blacks was their intensity and their attacking breakdown," he explained.<\/p>\n

"Just that ability to get back on their feet and make an effort. Thirty-five phases to resist the best attacking team we've seen in a long time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

New Zealand will take on Argentina on October 21 at 6am (AEDT). The other semi-final will be set between the winners of Fiji vs England and France vs South Africa.<\/p>\n
