The \ufeffKangaroos<\/a> started their Pacific Championships intentions with an emphatic win over Samoa<\/a><\/p>\n

Samoa<\/a> never looked a chance after the home side came out of the blocks on fire, leading 28-6 at half-time before finishing 38-12 winners.<\/p>\n

In an Australian side that featured four debutants, a lot of players were impressive while some weren't at their best despite the team's dominance.<\/p>\n

Got the fullback spot on reputation but proved he is still an elite player with a strong display.<\/p>\n

2. Dylan Edwards<\/strong><\/p>\n

Got very little clean ball in a clunky Australian backline while playing out of position on the wing, but made a few errors.<\/p>\n

3. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the few Kangaroos to excite the crowd from start to finish, scoring two tries including one stunning solo effort on debut.<\/p>\n

4. Kotoni Staggs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Made the most metres of any of the Aussie backs but still saw little open space until his late try.<\/p>\n

Played like he's had his feet up since grand final night, beating just one tackle in the 80 minutes.<\/p>\n

Always dangerous with the ball in hand but marred his game with a couple of errors trying to force the play.<\/p>\n

7. Daly Cherry-Evans<\/strong><\/p>\n

Led the Kangaroos well, directing traffic around the park without doing anything too spectacular.<\/p>\n

8. Payne Haas<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Big<\/p>\n

Laid the platform for the win with a devastating opening spell, scoring the first try and running for 90 metres in the first 27 minutes.<\/p>\n

9. Ben Hunt<\/strong><\/p>\n

Had a hand in a couple of tries and was always dangerous from dummyhalf.<\/p>\n

10. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emulated Haas by setting the tempo in the early stages – too hot for Samoa to handle.<\/p>\n

11. Cameron Murray<\/strong><\/p>\n

Busy game with some strong runs and a try – his fifth in a row in the green and gold.<\/p>\n

Played the entire game but showed little of his outstanding Panthers form in attack.<\/p>\n

Tried to emulate his Panthers link-man role but his teammates weren't on the same page.<\/p>\n

Menacing from dummyhalf when he got his chance off the bench and gave his ball players plenty of time and space.<\/p>\n

Won't be happy with his game, making just 54 running metres and a couple of errors – but did top the tackle count.<\/p>\n

16. Patrick Carrigan<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ran for 120 metres when he came on from the bench and pulled off some big hits.<\/p>\n

Only got half an hour but still managed nearly 100 metres and did plenty of hard defence in the middle.<\/p>\n
