Australia<\/a>'s batting has been taken to task after yet another collapse cruelled the men's team at the World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\ufeffIn response to South Africa<\/a>'s 7-311 in Lucknow, the Aussies lost their first six wickets for a miserable 70 runs, with Marnus Labuschagne<\/a> (46) the only batter to surpass 20 as they sunk to a 134-run defeat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It followed a six-wicket loss to India in their World Cup opener when Australia was rolled for 199\ufeff.<\/p>\n

Over the past year, Australia has endured six other significant collapses.<\/p>\n

The team lost 8-59 and 8-60 against India in March, 8-60 and 8-69 against South Africa in September, and 5-40 against India on September 24. They also lost 7-80 against the tournament hosts on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThey didn't have to win tonight but the problem is they've been bowled out now in two games for 199 and 177, they haven't even made 200 yet this series," former Aussie captain Mark Taylor<\/a> said on Nine's coverage during the loss to South Africa.<\/p>\n

"No one's made more than a 40-odd for Australia. We're not sure whether we want to bat first or bowl first in this series, and we're not sure what our team is. So there's a lot of questions to be answered there.<\/p>\n

"That's the concern, it's a concern probably leading into this World Cup and now after two games Australia are no closer to solving those problems and now they have three or four days to solve them, work out what their best team is, to find some energy, hang on to their catches and someone's got to make a big score, so they've got some work to do in the next three or four days."<\/p>\n

Australian great Shane Watson, who boasted a one-day international average of 40.54 during an outstanding white-ball career, admits Australia is in dire straits.<\/p>\n

"It's a big worry, that is for sure," Watson said while watching another collapse against the Proteas.<\/p>\n

"Batting collapses as soon as we lose three, four, five wickets for not many runs, then the game's gone and just the consistency of these (collapses).<\/p>\n

"Yes on occasions we've seen it at times in turning conditions but not in good batting conditions.<\/p>\n

"It really is a worry, I'm sure it is a worry inside the team, and certainly outside the team as well because all the Australian fans want the Australians to be doing well.<\/p>\n

"It is a huge worry."\ufeff<\/p>\n
