Several clubs are jostling for a shot at the West Coast Eagles<\/a>' No.1 pick in this year's draft in the hope of adding Victorian young gun Harley Reid to their lists.<\/p>\n

Reid is widely expected to \ufeffgo as the first pick of November's AFL draft<\/a>, and West Coast is currently poised to be the team he plays for, despite the interest of a number of Victorian clubs picking inside the top 10.<\/p>\n

Considered to be the top prospect for much of this year, Reid said he had been "rolled" by reports suggesting West Coast would not select him and that he did not want to begin his career in Western Australia.<\/p>\n

"To all the West Coast people listening, I don't know how many times I've had to say it or how much clearer I can be, but I'm happy to go to the Eagles and I'm super grateful to be in the position I am," he told SEN WA.<\/p>\n

"Everything over there seems like a great opportunity and experience with what Perth has to offer."<\/p>\n

Reid confirmed he was yet to meet with Eagles coach Adam Simpson but said he'd spoken with West Coast officials at this month's draft combine.<\/p>\n

The \ufeffBendigo Pioneers standout also staked his claim to the Eagles' No.9 jersey most recently worn by Nic Naitanui and made famous by Brownlow Medal winner and former club captain, Ben Cousins.<\/p>\n

"I'd love to have the honour to wear that number," he said.<\/p>\n

"It'd be huge and to put that on, that would mean so much to me\u2026 the two greats that have worn that jumper."<\/p>\n

North Melbourne, which holds picks No.2 and No.3 in the draft, are the team most likely to make a play for West Coast's No.1 pick, with Melbourne also rumoured to be interested after acquiring pick No.11 from the Gold Coast Suns in a trade this week.\ufeff<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
