Manly<\/a> captain Daly Cherry-Evans<\/a> has credited his three children for his incredible form in the twilight years of his rugby league career.<\/p>\n

With a \ufeffcareer spanning more than 300 NRL<\/a> matches, 22 appearances for the Queensland Maroons<\/a> and 26 international games, Cherry-Evans will become Australia's oldest-ever halfback when he runs out for the Kangaroos<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

At 34 years and 236 days, and still holding his place amongst the best in the competition, Cherry-Evans said he continued to improve and adapt his game to inspire his daughters.<\/p>\n

\"Daly<\/p>\n

"\ufeffA lot of [wanting to be the best] is to do with inspiring," he told 9News.<\/p>\n

"I've got three young daughters\ufeff and I feel like they're at a good age where they're quite intrigued about my career and where I'm at.<\/p>\n

"They get it\ufeff, the older two in particular. So, I think each new season and each game, I'm trying to inspire them to chase their dreams."<\/p>\n

On the verge of his 13th season with the Sea Eagles, and signed for another one thereafter, \ufeffCherry-Evans said he has no intentions of slowing down.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI understand that I'm at the latter stages of my career but I'm really enjoying my footy and I spend a lot of time making sure I'm staying fit and healthy and giving myself the best chance to play well on the weekend," he said.<\/p>\n

Asked \ufeffif this meant he could play until he turns 40, Cherry-Evans said he was not sure what the future would hold.<\/p>\n

"I'm not looking that far ahead," he said with a laugh.<\/p>\n

Following a second consecutive Origin<\/a> series win at the helm of the Maroons, \ufeffthe 2011 premiership winner and 2013 Clive Churchill Medallist ended speculation about his retirement from representative football.<\/p>\n

"There's probably no reason for me to stop playing Origin and any rep footy at the moment. I'm loving it," he said.<\/p>\n
