Slovenian youngster Kaja Juvan is through to the third round of the Australian Open<\/a>, but not before throwing up multiple times during her match against Maya Sherif. <\/p>\n

The 20-year-old dropped the first set to Sherif before staging a remarkable comeback while fighting sickness to run out a 3-6 7-6 (7-2) 6-3 winner.<\/p>\n

The world No.104 threw up on the court itself after the first game of the third set, before throwing up into a bin next to her chair after match point.<\/p>\n

Juvan showed the true toll of her mid-game sickness immediately following the win, which lasted two hours and 39 minutes, sinking to her knees after securing her path into the third round.<\/p>\n

"Well this is tough to watch, beg your pardon, getting sick on the court," Nick McCarvel said on commentary when Juvan first threw up.<\/p>\n

"Kaja Juvan obviously trying to keep herself physically going, trying to rehydrate. On the last point, she fought so hard and then collapsed to her knees."<\/p>\n

"Unfortunately, Juvan is not feeling well. That has been a usual sight throughout this match," co-commentator Louise Pleming added.<\/p>\n

"This young lady has just given everything. She asked for a trainer to come out and then she just said, 'No I'm fine, I'll keep on continuing', but really she wasn't."<\/p>\n

The win continues what has been an improbable run for Juvan, who was somewhat fortunate to make the second round after the withdrawal of her first-round opponent Johanna Konta.<\/p>\n

The British 13th seed was up a set and a break against Juvan before an abdominal injury forced her to retire prematurely, handing Juvan a path into the second round.<\/p>\n

Next up for the Slovenian is a match-up against American No.22 Jennifer Brady in the third round.<\/p>\n
