Diamonds<\/a> captain Liz Watson has spoken of her frustrations at the ongoing pay dispute<\/a> between the Australian Netball<\/a> Players' Association and Netball Australia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This week, players handed over their intellectual property rights to the ANPA, which means the league will need permission to use the players for promotional material ahead of the next Super Netball<\/a> season.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the Diamonds clash with the Silver Ferns in the 13th Constellation Cup, Watson said the dispute wasn't a distraction but was frustrated at how it's played out.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI think to go public with it was not ideal, and something we didn't want to have to do and it sort of got to that point," she said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffWe've really got so much faith in our association, our players, we're just leaving it how it is."<\/p>\n

Due to the dispute, all players are out of contract for the Super Netball with uncertainty around player movement as the Melbourne Mavericks prepare to enter the competition.<\/p>\n

Watson agreed the current unpredictability around \ufeffcontracts is creating stress.<\/p>\n

"It obviously is \ufeffstressful, not just for us as Diamonds but for everyone in our league," she said.<\/p>\n

"People are figuring out what they are doing in the next coming weeks for their future. Obviously no one has security of their club, there's obviously talks and rumours and everything but no one's officially signed.<\/p>\n

"I guess that does bring a lot of stress in different ways of your life and trying to figure that out but we know that it's going to get there and we're working really hard to get the best deal and best outcome for our league."<\/p>\n

Diamonds shooter Sophie Garbin also spoke of her frustration, calling the ongoing issues a "joke".<\/p>\n

"It's just a little bit frustrating from the players' perspective," she said in The Age<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"It's kind of getting to the point of a bit of a joke.<\/p>\n

"Obviously, (there's) a lot going on off the court, and it's very frustrating, I'm not gonna lie.<\/p>\n

"And it probably is weighing a little heavy on a few of us. But we know that we can perform under pressure and under circumstances when things off the court aren't going well. And I mean, we probably showed that last Constellation Cup."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
