Brisbane Broncos<\/a> assistant coach John Cartwright<\/a> has revealed he's been in discussions with NSWRL chief executive officer Dave Trodden \ufeffover the vacant NSW Blues head coaching role after Brad Fittler's departure in September<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cartwright played eight games for the Blues during the 1980s and 90s and was previously an assistant to the Origin side.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe former Titans head coach revealed a conversation with Ricky Stuart spurred his interest.<\/p>\n

"When Freddy stood down, I was initially just talking to Ricky Stuart about it and where he stood," Cartwright said on SEN.<\/p>\n

"He was sort of thinking that it maybe would be something he would be interested in \u2026 Ricky's an all-in or all-out type of guy, that's what he said to me.<\/p>\n

"He told me, 'I'm either all into it', which is going to affect his Raiders job, 'Or I'm out'.<\/p>\n

"Then he said, 'Would you consider doing it?', and I said, 'I'd love to do it'."<\/p>\n

After expressing \ufeffhis interest in the role, Cartwright also revealed he'd spoken to Trodden as the NSWRL board ramps up its big to appoint a coach capable of ending Queensland's two-year reign.<\/p>\n

"I just had a quick talk to Dave Trodden and I think now they just go through their process with the CEO and the board," Cartwright said.<\/p>\n

"It's probably just a phone call, I don't think there's going to be an interview process.<\/p>\n

"I think they'll get all the candidates together; they know what everyone's done and they'll make a choice from there."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
