Departing Essendon<\/a> list boss Adrian Dodoro has revealed the Bombers have tabled a six-year deal for North Melbourne<\/a> defender Ben McKay as mystery around the AFL<\/a>'s compensation pick for the deal continues to swirl.<\/p>\n

But North Melbourne\ufeff has confirmed that if Essendon's offer to McKay doesn't trigger a top-of-first-round compensation pick, it'll match the Bombers' offer for the restricted free agent, forcing a trade.<\/p>\n

As of Monday night, there remains no indication from the AFL as to what compensation pick it would offer North Melbourne for McKay's potential exit.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"We've submitted the paperwork this morning," Dodoro said on Monday.<\/p>\n

"We're yet to know whether there'll be a matched bid or not. I've got no idea what the herbs and spices are. I don't think anyone knows. It's a six-year deal."<\/p>\n

North Melbourne list guru Brady Rawlings\ufeff left no doubt around the Kangaroos' stance.<\/p>\n

"We'll be matching. It's pretty clear," Rawlings said on Monday.<\/p>\n

"We've said it all along: we're not accepting end-of-first-round compensation for a 25-year-old key defender in our leadership group. If it's [start of] first round it's a different story."<\/p>\n

Adding to the Bombers' activity at the trade table is St Kilda midfielder Jade Gresham's interest in Essendon.<\/p>\n

"He's certainly nominated us and we're just working through some details," Dodoro said.<\/p>\n

"Hopefully we'll lodge some paperwork in the next 24 hours. I'd imagine.<\/p>\n

"He's a talented player that plays half-forward and on ball, it's a need we're looking to fill.<\/p>\n

"So if we're fortunate to get him, that'd be great, but there's a free-agency process and they can match the bid."<\/p>\n

Essendon midfielder\ufeff Dylan Shiel, a 2017 All-Australian during his time at Greater Western Sydney, has been linked with a more to St Kilda.<\/p>\n

But Dodoro rejected the prospect of the 30-year-old being traded.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I think Dylan is still very much a required Essendon player," he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, veteran Kangaroos ruckman Todd Goldstein became\ufeff a Bomber on Monday, securing a trade to Essendon as an unrestricted free agent, while Port Adelaide youngster Xavier Duursma has requested a trade to the Bombers.<\/p>\n
