A year on from his infamous off-camera spew, a dusty Shane van Gisbergen<\/a> returned in better shape.<\/p>\n

After winning the Bathurst 1000<\/a> with Garth Tander in 2022, the Red Bull Ampol Racing driver was joined by Richie Stanaway this year to tackle The Mountain.<\/p>\n

Despite multiple scares, the pair took a dominant victory in the Great Race to win by nearly 20 seconds.<\/p>\n

On Monday morning at 7am, van Gisbergen and Stanaway fronted Today<\/em>'s cameras to talk about the win.<\/p>\n

"A bit sad you got me up this early, it still sucks," van Gisbergen joked when asked about the iconic interview by Karl Stefanovic.<\/p>\n

"I'm much better than I was last year."<\/p>\n

Stanaway said he "didn't have a big night" and was feeling good.<\/p>\n

Prodded by Stefanovic about Stanaway's antics, van Gisbergen said they didn't want to get too loose after last year's scenes.<\/p>\n

"Nah, he was all right. He left pretty early," said van Gisbergen of his teammate.<\/p>\n

"I didn't want to get in trouble like last year."<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the race, the three-time Supercars champion said he's happy he's finally mastered Mount Panorama.<\/p>\n

It took 10 attempts before he stood on the podium there and 14 tries to get his first win.<\/p>\n

"It took me a long time to win here and I think now it's three in the last four years," said van Gisbergen.<\/p>\n

"Just privileged to drive for such an awesome team Red Bull Ampol Racing, and have my mate here Richie for that experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"The podium, it was full. All the people, it's always amazing walking out and seeing everyone going nuts. Really cool moment."\u00a0<\/p>\n

For Stanaway, it was a dream come true.<\/p>\n

"It's a childhood dream of mine to win this race," he said.<\/p>\n

"It still hasn't quite sunk in. It's a very surreal feeling. Yesterday was the best day of my life, to be honest.\u00a0<\/p>\n
