Bryce James, the son of NBA star LeBron James, returned to his birth state this weekend for an unofficial visit to Ohio State on the weekend that the Buckeyes football team faced off against Maryland.<\/p>\n

He tweeted<\/a> on Saturday evening that he had received an offer from Ohio State during the visit.<\/p>\n

With LeBron’s vocal fandom of Ohio State, his birthplace in Akron, and the notoriety he brought to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he won one of his four championships, the Buckeyes have long been linked prominently in the public eye to the James family. Bryce’s older brother, Bronny, visited the Buckeyes before choosing USC.<\/p>\n

There is still some mystery around Bryce as a recruit, more so than there was for LeBron or Bronny. A member of the class of 2025, Bryce attended Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) for his two years before transferring to Campbell Hall (Studio City, Calif.) in May but quickly shifting course and landing on Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) in August.<\/p>\n

Recruiting sites differ, both in terms of objectivity and subjectivity. ESPN lists him as a 6-foot-6 small forward while 247Sports still has him as a 6-foot-4 shooting guard. ESPN considers him a four-star prospect while 247Sports, both on its own ranking and on its industry composite, list him as a three-star player.<\/p>\n

He averaged 7.6 points in 15 games with the Nike EYBL 16U circuit this year, according to ESPN<\/a>, which also reported the news of Bryce’s visit to Ohio State.<\/p>\n

Under Holtmann’s six years at the helm, the Buckeyes men’s basketball team has appeared in four NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournaments, three of the times getting to the second round and once losing in the first.
