The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has officially expelled one of its members for abusing Usman Khawaja<\/a> and the Australian team in the Lord's Long Room in July. <\/p>\n

Khawaja and the rest of the team were abused by members standing in the Long Room as the players headed into the lunch break<\/a> on day five of the second Ashes Test following the controversial dismissal of Jonny Bairstow<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The MCC cited three members for "abusive, offensive or inappropriate behaviour or language\ufeff", with one expelled, another hit with a four-and-a-half year suspension and the third receiving a 30-month suspension.<\/p>\n

"The actions of the three individuals in the pavilion on the day in question fell well below the behaviour expected from our members," the MCC said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Khawaja was left livid after the confrontation<\/a> with the unruly members in the Long Room.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"I\ufefft was really disappointing," he told Nine after the second Test.<\/p>\n

"Lord's is one of my favourite places to come, there is so much respect shown at Lord's, particularly in the members pavilion in the Long Room, but there wasn't today. It was very disappointing.<\/p>\n

"If anyone asks me where the best place is to play, I always say Lord's, the crowd is great, particularly the members are great, (but) some of the stuff coming out of the members' mouths was really disappointing.<\/p>\n

"I wasn't going to stand by and cop it, so I just talked to a few of them. A few of them were throwing out some pretty big allegations and I just called them up on it.<\/p>\n

"They kept going and I was like, 'Well, it's your membership here', so I was just pointing them out. It's pretty disrespectful to be honest. I just expect a lot better from the members."\ufeff<\/p>\n
