Tevita Pangai Junior<\/a> won't be told what to do.<\/p>\n

On the eve of his fight against Frank Amato, the former Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs star fired off at those who criticised his decision to leave the NRL.<\/p>\n

Pangai Junior's fight on Stan's live and exclusive pay-per-view is the first professional fight for the 190cm terror since giving away rugby league.<\/p>\n

"I'm just here to prove all my doubters wrong, all my haters wrong," he said.<\/p>\n

"They're all trying to tell me what to do. All the people in the media trying to tell me what to do. I do what I want to do.<\/p>\n

"I'm my own boss. That's why I left. I'm sick of taking orders off halfbacks and coaches. I do what I want to do.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"All of us big boys, we know footy. We know what to do. We know 'get to this point, get to that point'. Why are you trying to tell us what to do."<\/p>\n

Pangai Junior's swipe came after Amato suggested he had "never heard of her" when he was asked to join the fight card.<\/p>\n

Amato has just two fights under his belt, with a one win one loss record.<\/p>\n

"When I got the phone call for this fight, I thought someone was trying to scare me and I said 'I've never heard of her'," said Amato.<\/p>\n

"He kind of repeated and said 'Tevita Pangai Jr' and I'm like 'Oh mate, never heard of her'.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"But then I said I'll take the fight and work hard. I was in the middle of my rugby season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I tried to put weight (on) every time I play rugby, but as soon as I found out I was fighting him I was training hard, I lose so many kilos for this.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I look like a middleweight but I still punch like a heavyweight."<\/p>\n

Pangai duly fired back.<\/p>\n

"Brother, why is it on TikTok, you getting knocked out then by a cruiserweight? This is heavyweight boxing boy," he said.<\/p>\n

"Mate, your last two shows, last two fights have been in front of people like this, you haven't seen what you're gonna see on Saturday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Thousands of people, not just\u00a0 f—ing 200, mate."<\/p>\n
