Ivan Cleary<\/a>'s wife Bec has responded to her husband's hilarious Today Show<\/em> interview while a little under the weather<\/a> the morning after the NRL grand final.<\/p>\n

Ivan had just steered Penrith to a third straight premiership, but was trying to sneak away from celebrations at the leagues club to get some sleep before a fan day.<\/p>\n

He was stopped by Nine's cameras as he exited Panthers Leagues at 6am, and in sporting fashion fronted up for a chat on live television.<\/p>\n

He took the opportunity to have a cheeky dig at Queenslanders, as well as his son Nathan<\/a> – the halfback who masterminded an epic comeback to beat the Broncos on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"I actually said to (Nathan) yesterday that if I'd married someone else he would have been a pretty shit player," the coach joked.<\/p>\n

"I've got to thank his mum for everything that he's got, because it's certainly not from me.<\/p>\n

"You know what, he owes me, too. I've driven him to that many things, I've made lunches for him and done all this stuff."<\/p>\n

Ivan was again interviewed by Nine \ufeffat the club's presentation night on Wednesday, and was a little more sheepish this time around.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffWe haven't really had the conversation yet… surely she's happy with it," he said of his wife.<\/p>\n

Bec revealed to Nine what she made of the hilarious interview.<\/p>\n

"Yes I have (seen it), people sent it to me," Bec said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt's not true, I'm pretty sure that (Nathan) gets the talent from (Ivan) too.<\/p>\n

"He was having a bit of fun I think, he'd had a few drinks\ufeff so (he was) relaxed… he was funny."<\/p>\n

Nathan was on Wednesday withdrawn from the Kangaroos squad due to a knee innjury suffered during the grand final<\/a>, making his heroics late in the game even more impressive.\ufeff<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
